BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 16. Azerbaijan sold food products worth 2.4 billion manat ($1.4 billion) - 80 million manat ($47 million) per day to consumers through local retail trade networks in January 2025.

The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee indicates that this figure saw a 165 million manat ($97 million) or 7.4 percent increase compared to the same month last year (2.24 billion manat or $1.3 billion)

To note, last month, consumer goods worth 4.8 billion manat ($2.8 billion) were sold in the retail trade network. Compared to January of last year, retail turnover increased by 3.7 percent in real terms, including a 1.8 percent increase in food products, beverages, and tobacco products, and a 6.1 percent increase in non-food products.

Of the money spent by buyers on goods, 49.7 percent went to food products, 4.7 percent to beverages and tobacco products, 14.5 percent to textile products, clothing, and footwear, 5.6 percent to automobile gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.6 percent to electrical goods and furniture, 2.3 percent to pharmaceutical products and medical supplies, 1.3 percent to computers, telecommunications equipment, and printing products, and 17.3 percent to other non-food goods.
