BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. As many as 139 vehicles running only on electric motors (electric cars) were imported to Azerbaijan in January this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Customs Committee shows that the value of the import of several electric cars totaled $6.5 million. This figure is 100 units (41.8 percent) less in quantitative terms and $3 million (31.8 percent) less in value terms compared to the same period last year. Thus, 239 electric cars worth $9.6 million were imported to Azerbaijan for the first month of 2024.
The average cost per unit of imported electric vehicles last month totaled $47,400, which is $7,000 or 17.3 percent more than a year earlier. In the first month of last year, the average cost of one imported electric car reached $40,400.
To note, a total of 7,663 cars worth $139 million were imported to Azerbaijan last month.
