BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 18. This January, the sea cargo transportation volume in Azerbaijan saw a significant uptick, sailing smoothly into the new year.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee shows that the volume reached 824,100 tons, up 31.2 percent compared to January of the previous year.
The cargo's 43.5 percent accounted for oil. Loading and unloading work in the amount of 1.47 million tons was carried out by the sea ports, and 1.13 million tons (77.3 percent) of the cargoes were transit cargoes.
As of February 1, 2025, the amount of cargo remaining in the ports was 53,600 tons. During the period, the number of passengers transported by this type of transport rose by 42.1 percent compared to January 2024 and reached 2,700 people.
