ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 18. The launch
date for the Kenderli desalination plant was disclosed during the
special meeting under the chairmanship of the akim (governor) of
Mangistau region, Nurdaulet Kilybay, Trend reports.
According to Governor the desalination plant in the resort area of
Kenderli will be launched in May 2025. In the course of the
meeting, Zhansait Kainarbaev, the akim of Zhanaozen, also reported
on the ongoing works and shared plans for the region.
He stated that the work to adjust the General Plan, integrated with the detailed planning project for the village of Kendirli, will be completed in the second quarter of 2025. To enhance the tourism and economic potential of Kenderli and improve transportation links, the reconstruction of the road from the "Zhetibay - Zhanaozen - Kenderli - Turkmenistan border" has begun. This 156-kilometer road belongs to the IV technical category. As part of the repair work, strengthening and updating of the road surface are planned.
To improve the accessibility of the region, the construction of a new airport in Kenderli has started. Following the President's instructions in the Message to the people of Kazakhstan, 599 hectares of land have been allocated for the airport. The project is currently under development. The future airport will have a capacity of 200 passengers per hour, allowing it to serve between 30,000 to 60,000 passengers annually. Successful implementation of the project will contribute to an increase in tourist flows to the region.
Another important project in Kenderli is the construction of a desalination plant with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters per day. The launch of the complex is planned for May 2025.
A new tourist route from Kenderli to historical and cultural sites of the region is also being developed.
Akim Nurdaulet Kilybay emphasized the importance of improving infrastructure in the development of the Kenderli resort area and instructed that work in this direction should not be removed from the agenda.
"The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, instructed to accelerate the work on the development of the Kenderli recreation area. Today, the main problem is the provision of infrastructure. The next step is to attract tourists. To this end, timely and quality implementation of all planned activities is necessary," said Nurdaulet Kilybay.
To note, Kenderli is a village in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan, subordinate to the Zhanaozen city administration, development of the resort area will also have a positive impact on the region's economy. As a result of the project, more than 600,000 domestic and foreign tourists are expected to visit the area annually. Additionally, the initiative will create more than 15,000 permanent jobs.
