BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. Azerbaijan increased revenue from chemical exports by $13.4 million (61 percent) in January 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that the chemical export value in the reporting month amounted to $35.5 million and the volume was 113,800 tons (an increase of 6,100 tons or 5.6 percent).
Meanwhile, the share of chemical products in Azerbaijan's overall export accounted for 1.17 percent, while in the non-oil sector, it stood at 14.46 percent.
To note, a total of 166.8 million manat ($98.1 million) worth of chemical products, pharmaceuticals, rubber, and plastic products were manufactured in Azerbaijan this January. Compared to January of last year, the pharmaceutical production increased by 2.8 times, the manufacturing of rubber and plastic products grew by 41 percent, while the chemical production decreased by 1.4 percent.
Among chemical industry products, the production of iodine decreased by 6.1 percent, ethylene by 10.3 percent, propene (propylene) by 24.3 percent, and polyethylene by 28.3 percent. As for rubber and plastic products, the production of rigid plastic pipes, tubes, fittings, and elbows grew by 64.9 percent, the production of other plastic items and sheets from foamed plastic - by 56.9 percent; and the production of polyethylene bags and sacks - by 48.1 percent.
