BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. A total of 87 percent out of 1.6 million taxpayers registered in Azerbaijan were individuals, and 13 percent - legal entities and other organizations as of February 1 of this year.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan shows that compared to the same period last year, the total number of taxpayers increased by 5.4 percent, including the number of individuals increased by 5.1 percent while the number of legal entities increased by 7.6 percent.
The number of registered commercial organizations as of February 1 amounted to 191,643 units, increasing by 8.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
As many as 1,307 business organizations were registered in the state in January 2025, of which 90.1 percent had local investment 9.9 percent had foreign investment, and 87.5 percent of business organizations were registered electronically.
The share of electronic registration of domestic limited liability companies registered in January was 97.5 percent.
The number of active VAT payers among commercial organizations registered with the state amounted to 40,901 units, an increase of 15.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
The share of VAT payers in the total registration amounted to 32.2 percent.
Meanwhile, 91.5 percent of commercial legal entities registered in the state registry were established in the form of limited liability companies, 1.1 percent as joint-stock companies, 1.1 percent as cooperatives, and the remaining in other forms.
