Azerbaijan discloses decade-long seaborne freight traffic nationwide

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. The seaborne freight traffic in Azerbaijan was 8.6 million tons last year.

Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee shows that this figure decreased by 389,000 tons (4.3 percent) compared to the previous year, but grew by 1.99 million tons (30.1 percent) compared to the indicators of the last 10 years.

Thus, the volume of freight transported by sea in Azerbaijan was nine million tons in 2023 and 6.6 million tons in 2015.

The seaborne freight traffic in Azerbaijan in the last 10 years is shown as below:

To note, in January 2025, 824,100 tons of freight were transported by sea in Azerbaijan, which means a year-on-year increase of 31.2 percent.
