BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. Azerbaijan exported 43.5 million tons of crude oil and crude oil products derived from bituminous rocks to Italy in the last four years.
Data obtained by Trend from the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee shows that the revenue from this volume of oil exports amounted to $26.5 billion.
Last year, Azerbaijan exported 12.5 million tons, worth $6 billion, of crude oil and crude oil products derived from bituminous rocks to Italy, which is 3.7 million tons, or 41.3 percent more in volume compared to the 2023 figures, but $576 million, or 8.7 percent less in value.
In 2023, Azerbaijan exported 8.9 million tons, worth $6.6 billion, of crude oil and crude oil products derived from bituminous rocks to Italy. This is 2.2 million tons, or 20 percent less in volume, and $436 million, or 6.2 percent less in value, compared to 2022.
In 2022, Azerbaijan exported 11.1 million tons, worth $7.1 billion, and in 2021, 11 million tons, worth $6.7 billion, of crude oil and crude oil products derived from bituminous rocks to Italy.
To note, in January of this year, Azerbaijan exported 1.7 million tons of crude oil and crude oil products derived from bituminous rocks to Italy. The revenue from exporting this volume of products amounted to $932.7 million, which is $822.2 million, or 8.4 times higher in value, and 1.5 million tons, or 9.4 times higher in volume compared to the same month in 2024.
