ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 12. In Houston, Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas Askhat Khassenov held a meeting with Eni CEO Guido Brusco, Trend reports.

Throughout the meeting, stakeholders deliberated on the current status of joint projects, with special attention given to the further development and long-term exploration of Kazakhstan’s Kashagan field.

While the meeting was underway, the issues of developing domestic value, including increasing the share of Kazakh content in large oil and gas projects, were raised.

Additionally, the status of work on the construction of a gas processing plant at the Karachaganak field, with a processing capacity of 4.5 billion cubic meters of raw gas per year, was discussed. Khasenov reinforced the significance of this project for the country.

The entities also recognized that KazMunayGas and Eni are actively cooperating in the field of geological exploration. Khasenov also mentioned that KazMunayGas has prepared a new pool of projects and invited the Italian company to co-invest.

“We highly appreciate the fruitful cooperation with Eni, which has proven itself as a reliable partner for Kazakhstan. We will continue our joint efforts to strengthen our positions in international markets and implement long-term projects that contribute to energy security and sustainable economic growth in our countries,” concluded Khassenov.

The joint KazMunayGas and Eni project to build a hybrid power station with a capacity of 247 MW in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan is planned to complete the solar power plant in the third quarter of 2025, with the hydroelectric and wind power stations expected to be finished in 2026.
