ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 17. Oil and gas company "Buzachi Operating Ltd" has compensated 8.4 billion tenge ($16.7 million) for damages in the Mangistau region, Trend reports via the Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan's Mangistau Region.
The Prosecutor's Office of Mangistau Region, following a comprehensive inspection, identified significant violations in the activities of the "Buzachi Operating Ltd" branch.
"For six years, the company engaged in subsoil use operations causing losses of oil and gas and also burned raw gas without the permission of the authorized body in the hydrocarbons sector. Due to actions taken by the prosecutors, the company was ordered by court decisions to compensate the damage totaling 8.4 billion tenge ($16.7 million)," the Prosecutor's Office of Mangistau Region stated.
The appellate court upheld the decisions of the first instance court. The court rulings have entered into legal force. In early March, the company paid the compensation amount.
Buzachi Operating Ltd is an operating company engaged in the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas at the North Buzachi field in the Mangistau Region, Kazakhstan. The field is located on the Buzachi Peninsula, about 250 km north of the city of Aktau, and is considered one of the major oil and gas fields in the region.
