BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. Entities and individuals in Azerbaijan's transport sector moved a whopping 36.3 million tons of cargo and whisked away 308.6 million passengers from January through February 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that
freight logistics experienced a surge of 3.1 percent, while
passenger mobility escalated by 4.8 percent in comparison to the
corresponding timeframe of 2024.
Furthermore, a substantial 56.9 percent of cargo was conveyed via
terrestrial routes, while 30.8 percent was transmitted through
pipeline networks. Rail accounted for 8.1 percent of the logistics,
maritime transport represented four percent, and a mere 0.2 percent
was allocated to aerial freight services.
Furthermore, a substantial 88.1 percent of commuters utilized
terrestrial transit, while 11.3 percent engaged in subterranean
conveyance, with the remainder employing alternative transportation
modalities.
