ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 7. Preparation for the spring sowing campaign in the West Kazakhstan region goes on schedule, and 612,700 ha will be sown in total, Trend reports via the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.
“Cereal crops will cover the largest area, with 290,600 hectares designated for their cultivation. Oilseeds will be planted on 118,900 hectares, while potatoes, vegetables, and melons will be sown on 4,200 hectares. Forage crops will take up 199,000 hectares, ”stated the Ministry of Agriculture.
As part of the preparatory work, 91,500 hectares of winter cereals were already sown in the fall of 2024, including 83,900 hectares of winter wheat, 6,700 hectares of rye, and 900 hectares of triticale.
For the upcoming spring fieldwork, 29,400 tons of seeds will be needed. The region is fully equipped with the required seeds, all of which have undergone laboratory testing and are in optimal condition for planting.
“To ensure the successful launch of the sowing campaign, 8,400 tons of diesel fuel have been allocated. The agricultural work will involve 3,136 tractors, 2,097 seeders, 646 cultivators, and other specialized machinery,” added the ministry.
Following President Tokayev's directive to double agricultural production, the region plans to increase the use of mineral fertilizers according to scientifically justified standards. In 2025, local farmers will purchase 8,500 tons of fertilizers to ensure high yields.
All preparatory works and spring field works are carried out in accordance with the plan, which guarantees a smooth start of the agricultural season and creates favorable conditions for increasing agricultural production.
