BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. The total electricity generation in Azerbaijan's thermal power plants (TPPs) amounted to 6.3 billion kWh from January through March 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the Ministry of Energy indicates that electricity production in TPPs decreased by 200.9 million kWh, or 3.1 percent, compared to the same period in the previous year. In the first quarter of 2024, the production in TPPs had been 6.5 billion kWh.
Moreover, the total electricity production in Azerbaijan during the January-March period of this year reached 7.1 billion kWh. This marks a 0.6 percent increase, or 42.5 million kWh, from the previous year's figures.
Of this, the production from TPPs amounted to 6.3 billion kWh, from hydroelectric plants (HEPs) 669.6 million kWh, and other sources contributed 183.9 million kWh, including 9.5 million kWh from wind power plants, 112.5 million kWh from solar power plants, and 61.9 million kWh from the Waste Incineration Plant.
