ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 17. As part of his working trip to the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC "KazMunayGas" (KMG), Askhat Khassenov, visited the Karazhanbas oil field operated by JSC "Karazhanbasmunai" (KBM), where he inspected key production facilities, including the Oil Treatment and Pumping Workshop, Trend reports.
"Khassenov also visited the Formation Water Desalination Plant, the operation of which has freed up a significant volume of water from the Astrakhan–Mangyshlak trunk pipeline for the needs of the local population. Currently, the plant produces an average of 13,000 cubic meters of desalinated water per day. To ensure an uninterrupted power supply to the field, a project will be implemented to build a 4.9 MW gas piston power plant (GPPP)," KazMunayGas noted.
Moreover, following a meeting held at KBM, the head of KMG issued several directives aimed at further improving living and working conditions, enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring the timely and high-quality implementation of geological and technical measures, and maintaining oil production levels.
In the first quarter, KBM produced 529,000 tons of oil. Last year, production totaled 2.1538 million tonnes, which is 100,800 tonnes more than in 2023. In 2025, the company plans to maintain current output levels.
Karazhanbas is one of the largest and most technically challenging heavy oil fields in the Mangystau region. Despite its complexity, KazMunayGas continues to develop the field successfully and demonstrates high efficiency. Thanks to the dedication and professionalism of its employees, oil output increases each year - even under such demanding conditions.
