ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 18. President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the Aktau International Sea Port, a key logistics hub of the country, which plays an important role in the development of Kazakhstan's transit potential, during a working visit to Mangistau region, Trend reports.

Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabaev stated that 24 infrastructure projects are being implemented in the region, with a total value of 1.9 trillion tenge (approximately $3.61 billion).

"In Aktau, the construction of a container hub is underway, which will increase the port's throughput capacity from 140,000 to 240,000 TEU. Following the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan, the construction of a new airport has begun in the resort area of Kenderli. Its capacity will be 150 passengers per hour. Regular flights connecting Kenderli with Almaty and Astana are planned," the information notes.

Moreover, it was also noted that large-scale road projects are planned, including the Center-West and Beineu-Saksaulsk roads, the launch of which will optimize logistics on key routes and reduce transportation costs for transit and export cargo. In particular, the distance from Astana to Aktau will be reduced by 800 km, and from Khorgos to Aktau by 900 km.

As part of his working trip to the Mangistau region, the President of Kazakhstan also plans to hold a meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of the region.
