ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 23. Turkmenistan plans to begin construction of a new section of the Ashgabat–Turkmenbashi highway next year, said Rahimberdi Jepbarov, Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investment in the Country's Economy, Trend reports.
Discussions are also underway regarding the involvement of international financial institutions in the modernization of the Turkmenabat–Mary–Ashgabat–Turkmenbashi railway line.
He emphasized Turkmenistan’s active efforts to develop regional transport infrastructure. The modern international seaport on the Caspian coast has already become a key transit hub. In addition, Turkmenistan has implemented several railway projects in neighboring countries, including Afghanistan.
Among the country's future infrastructure priorities are the construction of dry ports and logistics warehouses abroad, the extension of the Turghundi–Herat railway line, and the installation of a fiber-optic communication line connecting regional countries.
The head of the foreign economic bank highlighted that investment cooperation plays a crucial role in the implementation of Turkmenistan’s national infrastructure projects, expressing the country’s readiness to partner with all interested parties.
