TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 5. A total of 372,887 small businesses are operating in Uzbekistan as of April 1, 2025, Trend reports, citing the National Statistics Committee.
This figure excludes farms and dehkan farms. Compared to the beginning of the year, the number of small businesses has increased by 14,771, which represents a 4.1 percent growth.
The trade sector remains the largest contributor to the small business landscape, with 143,307 entities, accounting for approximately 38.4 percent of the total. The industrial sector follows as the second-largest, comprising 55,240 businesses, or 14.8 percent, while other business activities also represent a significant portion with 53,104 entities (14.2 percent).
In terms of specific industries, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries account for 31,594 small businesses (8.5 percent), while the construction sector contributes 27,094 entities (7.3 percent). The accommodation and food services industry is home to 27,067 businesses (7.3 percent), and the transportation and storage sector includes 15,883 entities (4.3 percent).
Smaller sectors include information and communication, which comprises 9,691 businesses (2.6 percent), and healthcare and social services with 9,497 entities (2.5percent) .
This data underscores a consistent growth in small businesses across various sectors, with trade continuing to dominate as the key contributor to the sector’s overall expansion.
