BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7. Azerbaijan produced 44 tons of iodine from January through March of this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that this figure decreased by 4.7 tons (9.7 percent) compared to the same period last year (48.7 tons).
To note, during the reporting period, chemical, pharmaceutical, and rubber and plastic products worth 554.9 million manat ($326.4 million) were manufactured in Azerbaijan. Compared to the corresponding period of last year, the manufacturing of pharmaceutical and chemical products grew by 1.9 percent and 43.3 percent, respectively, while rubber and plastic production decreased by 1.8 percent.
The manufacturing of paint and varnish products from the chemical industry increased by 38.1 percent, polyethylene by 0.5 percent, while the manufacturing of ethylene decreased by 2.3 percent, propylene by 10.4 percent, rubber and plastic products, including pipes, tubes, sleeves, and hoses made of hard plastic, by three percent, and the production of polyethylene bags and sacks by 38.6 percent.
