BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. The 6.6 tons of iodine that were exported from Azerbaijan to Russia between January and February 2025 represent a substantial rise over the previous three months.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee indicates that the revenue from this export amounted to $396,000.
This represents a considerable growth compared to the same period last year, with a rise of 3.1 tons (88.5 percent) in terms of quantity and a $134,000 (51.1 percent) increase in value.
For reference, Azerbaijan exported 3.5 tons of iodine, valued at $262,000, to Russia during the reporting period.
In addition, Azerbaijan produced 44 tons of iodine in the first quarter of 2025. However, this is a decrease of 9.7 percent, or 4.7 tons, compared to the same period last year, when the country produced 48.7 tons of iodine.
