BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. Azerbaijan imported approximately 70,000 tons of plastic and plastic products worth $126.6 million from January through March 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that
this signifies an escalation of approximately $6.8 million (5.7
percent) in monetary value and 1,700 tons (2.5 percent) in
volumetric output relative to the corresponding timeframe of the
previous fiscal year.
The influx of these commodities constituted approximately 2.24
percent of the national import portfolio during the initial quarter
of 2025.
In the specified timeframe, Azerbaijan achieved an export volume of
74,300 tons of polymeric materials and associated derivatives,
generating a revenue stream of $81.2 million. This denotes a
contraction of roughly $13.7 million (14.4 percent) in valuation
and a reduction of 34,800 tons (31.9 percent) in throughput
relative to the inaugural quarter of 2024.
The analytics indicate that Azerbaijan's plastic importation
metrics surpassed export figures by a substantial margin of 45.4
percent during the initial quarter of the current fiscal year.
