ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 8. Deputy Minister of
Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakaev clarified which airport
is planned to be transferred to the management of the Vietnamese
Sovico Group, Trend reports.
“We are attracting advanced technologies and companies to help us
improve the operations and services of our airports, including from
a technological and administrative perspective. Negotiations are
already underway with the Vietnamese side. The idea is that the
Vietnamese side would manage the airport for some time to improve
the overall functioning of the airport,” said Alibek Bakaev in the
Senate corridors.
He specified that the airport in question is located in the
Kyzylorda region. The deputy minister also emphasized that the
arrangement involves a transfer of trust-based management, not a
sale.
“But this is not a purchase. We are not selling strategic assets,”
emphasized Alibek Bakaev.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, Serik Zhumangarin, mentioned that the Vietnamese Sovico Group is considering the possibility of purchasing or managing an airport in Kazakhstan.
