ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 8. Today, under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Maulen Ashimbayev, a session of the Chamber was held, during which senators considered a number of laws and voiced their parliamentary inquiries, Trend reports.
As noted by the deputies, the purpose of the Law "On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of Kazakhstan and the Government of the United States on the Lease of Land for the Construction of a US Consulate Building in Almaty" is to increase the trust of international partners and their confidence in the stability and attractiveness of Kazakhstan for further investments, as well as to strengthen the strategic relations between Kazakhstan and the US.
"The document regulates the procedures and conditions for leasing a land plot for 49 years, on which, among other things, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the U.S. Commercial Service are planned to be located," said the press service of the Kazakh Senate.
The rent for this period will amount to $25.3 million. The payment will be made in a lump sum within 30 calendar days from the date the agreement enters into force. Moreover, the US government will be exempt from paying any taxes and other fees on the land plot and the future consulate building.
