BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Enterprises and individuals operating in Azerbaijan’s transport sector carried 76.1 million tons of freight and 659.6 million passengers from January through April 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee indicates
that freight logistics experienced an uptick of 3 percent relative
to the corresponding timeframe of the previous fiscal year, whereas
passenger mobility surged by 5.7 percent.
In the overall logistics matrix, 59.2 percent of the freight was
executed through terrestrial conveyance, 29.2 percent was
facilitated via hydrocarbon pipelines, 7.5 percent was transited by
rail networks, 3.9 percent was navigated through maritime channels,
and a mere 0.2 percent was allocated for aerial transport.
Regarding the modal distribution of passenger transit, a
substantial 88.3 percent utilized terrestrial conveyance, while
11.1 percent engaged the metro system, with the residual percentage
allocated to alternative transport modalities.
