BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. The number of passengers transported by air in Azerbaijan grew by 1.18 million (9.6 percent) from January through April of this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that
public sector transportation constitutes a staggering 99.9 percent
of the total, while the private sector accounts for a mere 0.1
percent.
The volumetric throughput of freight logistics via this modality
experienced an uptick of two percent, culminating in a total
tonnage of 130,100 tons.
To note, in the first four months of this year, cargo and passenger transportation grew year on year by three percent and 5.7 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, 76.1 million tons of cargo were transported by economic entities operating in the transport sector, with 3.9 percent of cargo transported by sea, 7.5 percent by rail, 0.2 percent by air, 59.2 percent by road, and 29.2 percent by pipeline.
The volume of cargo transported by private vehicles increased by 4.4 percent, and the specific weight of this sector in the total volume of transported cargo was 78.4 percent. From January through April of 2025, transporters served 659.6 million passengers. Specifically, 88.3 percent of passengers were transported by road, 11.1 percent by metro, and the rest by other modes of transport.
