ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 20. Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Talgat Lastaev, held negotiations with the Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandra Sofronijević, and discussed the opening of air communication between the capitals of the two countries, Trend reports.
At the meeting, the sides agreed to establish a direct flight connection between the capitals by the end of 2025
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Youth of the Republic of Serbia, V. Rakić. The delegation from Kazakhstan included representatives from the SCAT airline and tourist companies.
Kazakhstan and Serbia maintain friendly and multifaceted relations covering political, economic, cultural, and scientific areas. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on December 10, 1996. Since then, cooperation has gradually deepened, especially after the opening of the Kazakh Embassy in Belgrade in 2015 and the Serbian Embassy in Astana in 2011.
During President Tokayev’s official visit to Serbia in November 2024, several important agreements were signed, including: An agreement on international road transport; A convention on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion concerning income and capital taxes.
