BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 27. The volume of electricity produced so far at the "Meydan" and "Gamishli" small hydropower plants (SHPPs) in Azerbaijan has been revealed.
The data obtained by Trend from the Ministry of Energy shows that since the start of operation until May this year, 11.4 million kWh of electricity was produced at the "Meydan" SHPP, and 26.2 million kWh of electricity was produced at the "Gamishli" SHPP.
To note, the "Meydan" and "Gamishli" SHPPs, built in the Kalbajar district, were commissioned on May 27, 2023.
The "Meydan" SHPP, with a total capacity of 3.4 MW, consists of two hydropower units with a capacity of 1.7 MW each, and the "Gamishli" SHPP, with a total capacity of 6.3 MW, consists of two hydropower units with a capacity of 3.15 MW each.
SHPPs are classified as a sustainable energy solution due to their capacity to generate eco-friendly electricity. They operate as an energy production entity that maintains a zero-emission profile concerning greenhouse gases throughout the energy generation process.
