BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18. The volume of cargo transported by sea in Azerbaijan amounted to 3.7 million tons from January through May 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee shows that this figure increased by 12.2 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, 47 percent of the cargo accounted for oil. Seaports handled 5.704 million tons of cargo, and transit cargo accounted for 4.6 million tons, or 81.8 percent of the cargo.
As of June 1, 2025, the volume of cargo remaining in the ports was 220,100 tons. The number of passengers transported by this type of transport during the period decreased by 4.6 percent compared to the same period in 2024 and amounted to 10,400 people.
