BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. Azerbaijan transported 1.12 million tons of cargo worth $1.06 billion by sea from January through May of this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee shows that in
juxtaposition with the corresponding timeframe in 2024, this metric
experienced an augmentation of $199 million, translating to a 23.1
percent escalation in monetary value, alongside a volumetric
increase of 1,836 tons, equating to a 0.16 percent uptick.
In the specified reporting timeframe, Azerbaijan executed maritime
exports totaling 53,900 tons of freight, with a monetary valuation
of $28.4 million. This reflects a contraction of $18.4 million,
equating to a 39.3 percent depreciation in value, juxtaposed with a
volumetric escalation of 24,376 tons, representing a 1.8-fold
increase relative to the preceding fiscal year.
Concurrently, Azerbaijan executed maritime imports totaling 1.07
million tons, with a fiscal valuation of $1.03 billion, reflecting
a substantial 26.7 percent, or $217 million, increment in monetary
worth, juxtaposed with a two percent or 22,540-ton, contraction in
throughput relative to the initial quintet of months in 2024.
