BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. Restoration and construction work are ongoing in Azerbaijan's Khojavand district, Trend reports.
Private residential buildings will be repaired in the district's Girmizi Bazar settlement and Taghavard village as part of the work.
The Restoration, Construction, and Management Service in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts has already completed the relevant work.
The service entrusted the execution of repair works to the consortium of Frekans Construction and Energy Company LLC and Ugur Tikinti LLC and signed a contract worth 11.86 million manat ($7 million).
To recall, the Armenian armed forces invaded the Azerbaijani villages of Tugh and Salaketin on October 30, 1991, Khojavand on November 19, and Akhullu on January 9, 1992. The Armenians occupied Garadaghly village on February 17, 1992, and committed genocide against its peaceful population. 33 were shot and 118 taken prisoner in an old Azerbaijani town of over 800. 68 prisoners died. The occupation looted and destroyed 1,723 residential buildings, 47 industrial, 144 agricultural, 32 healthcare, 17 educational institutions, 4 preschools, 59 cultural, 32 bridges, 42 reservoirs, and 316 kilometers of water pipelines in 10 Azerbaijani villages. On 9 October 2020, the Hadrut settlement and 35 villages in Khojavend were liberated from Armenian domination during the Second Karabakh War by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
