ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 4. By 2027, 90 percent of Kazakhstan’s villages will have access to fiber-optic internet, said Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev during a government meeting, Trend reports.
According to the minister, by 2027, fiber-optic communication technology (FOCT) will be available in 3,781 villages, covering 90 percent of rural areas, with the total network length exceeding 160,000 kilometers.
“The development of digital infrastructure is a crucial element in transforming the economy. We must ensure technological connectivity across the entire country, including the most remote settlements,” stated Olzhas Bektenov.
Work is also underway on building data centers (10 facilities by 2030), providing satellite internet in remote regions, and creating digital transit routes through Kazakhstan. Investment in the ICT sector is expected to reach approximately 1.3 trillion tenge (about $2.47 billion) by 2030.
