BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 8. A total of 152.39 million manat ($89.6 million) was refunded from the state budget to individuals and legal entities in Azerbaijan during the first half of this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the Ministry of Finance shows that 4.9 million manat ($2.87 million) of the total accounted for VAT refunds on goods not intended for production or commercial use - purchased in Azerbaijan by foreigners and stateless persons—as well as on medical services provided to them by medical institutions and private practitioners.
Additionally, 94.4 million manat ($55.5 million) of VAT was refunded to individual consumers for purchases of goods and services (excluding oil and gas products, automobiles, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco) from retail, food service, and healthcare providers, including private practitioners, as well as for accommodation services provided by hotels in liberated territories.
Furthermore, 16.8 million manat ($9.9 million) was refunded to individuals for VAT paid on residential and non-residential properties purchased cashless from construction companies within Azerbaijan.
Over the same period, 36.25 million manat ($21.3 million) was refunded from the state budget for overpaid taxes, state duties, interest, and financial penalties.
