BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 21. Iran’s import of products from Uzbekistan jacked up by 30 percent in value and 108 percent in weight during the current Iranian year’s three months (from March 21 through June 21, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 20 through June 20, 2024).
The data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Customs Administration shows that in these three months, the import amounted to approximately $23.3 million in value and nearly 16,300 tons in weight.
In the same three-month period of last Iranian year, Iran imported about $17.9 million worth of products, weighing 7,800 tons from Uzbekistan.
During the three months of the current year, the imports mainly included cotton, beans, silk, ammonium nitrate, and other goods.
Iran’s trade turnover with Uzbekistan in these three months reached $138 million in value and 188,000 tons in weight. The trade turnover rose by 28.7 percent in value and 32.5 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, in these three months, Iran imported $13 billion worth of nine million tons of non-oil products. The country’s non-oil product imports decreased by 11.7 percent in value and 4.35 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
Iran prioritizes importing essential goods needed by the country and applies certain restrictions on importing products that are produced domestically.
