The data also shows that Iran produced about 5.63 million tons
of steel products during the period in question — a decline of 8
percent compared to the same period last year, when output totaled
roughly 6.12 million tons.
Meanwhile, sponge iron production slightly increased by about
one percent, totaling 11.5 million tons, reflecting a modest
increase of 1 percent compared to the same timeframe last year,
when output stood at around 11.4 million tons.
Meanwhile, iron ore pellet production reached 16.9 million tons
during the period, representing a decline of 8.4 percent
year-on-year. In the corresponding period of the previous year,
production totaled approximately 18.5 million tons.
Moreover, Iran’s output of iron ore concentrate amounted to 20.1
million tons in the first three months, marking a 2.8 percent
increase from the 19.6 million tons recorded in the same period
last year.
Iran's annual steel production capacity is estimated at around
40 million tons.
However, in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through
March 20, 2025), the country’s crude steel output totaled 30.3
million tons, marking a 5.7 percent decline compared to the
previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
