BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22. Iran exported iron and steel valued at $1.6 billion, totaling 8.96 million tons during the three months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2025).
Data obtained by Trend from the country's Steel Producers Association indicates that Iran’s total iron and steel exports declined by 5 percent in value and increased by 17 percent in volume compared to the same period last year (from March 20 through June 20, 2024). Exports for the same period last year totaled $1.68 billion for 7.63 million tons.
Moreover, Iran’s crude steel exports reached $697 million for 1.7 million tons during these three months, marking a 6 percent decrease in value but a 7 percent increase in volume compared to last year. In the previous year’s same period, crude steel exports were $743 million for 1.57 million tons.
Meanwhile, exports of steel products amounted to $329 million for 708 thousand tons, showing a decline of 31 percent in value and 27 percent in volume compared to the previous year, when steel products exports totaled $480 million for 974,000 tons.
Iran’s steel production capacity is around 40 million tons annually.
