BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22. Azerbaijan imported 10,000 tons of pharmaceutical products worth $259.4 million from January through June 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that the volume dropped by 1,600 tons, or 13.8 percent, while the value increased by $11.4 million, or 4.6 percent, compared to the same period in 2024 (11,600 tons, worth $248 million).
Pharmaceuticals made up 2.25 percent of the country’s total imports during the reporting period.
In total, Azerbaijan conducted foreign trade worth $24.4 billion in the first half of 2025, an increase of $2.63 billion or 12.1 percent year-on-year ($21.7 billion). Of this, $12.88 billion accounted for exports and $11.5 billion for imports. While exports declined by 0.2 percent, imports rose by 29.9 percent.
Consequently, the country recorded a positive trade balance of $1.35 billion—down by $2.67 billion, or threefold, compared to the same period last year.
