ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 4. Kazakhstan has officially launched oil exports to Hungary through Croatia, marking a significant milestone in expanding its energy trade with the European Union, Trend reports via KazMunayGas (KMG).
JSC NC KazMunayGas (KMG) completed the first shipment of 85,000 tons of crude oil to the Százhalombatta Oil Refinery, operated by Hungary’s MOL Group. The shipment was transported by the national maritime carrier Kazmortransflot, a KMG subsidiary, using the Alatau tanker. The vessel departed from the Russian port of Novorossiysk and arrived at the Croatian port of Omisalj. From there, the oil will be delivered to Hungary through the Adriatic Oil Pipeline, managed by Croatia’s JANAF.
Following the tanker’s arrival, officials from KMG, MOL Group, and JANAF held a meeting in Croatia to discuss long-term cooperation. Consequently, KMG and MOL Group signed a framework agreement on future oil supplies, strengthening their strategic partnership.
