BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 18. Iran's loans issued by banks for the housing and construction sector decreased by 22.3 percent in the first four months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 22, 2025), compared to the same period last year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024).
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Iran (CBOI) indicates that a total of 618 trillion rials (about $1.07 billion) was allocated to the housing and construction sector during this period. In comparison, in the same period last year, 796 trillion rials (about $1.39 billion) were issued.
Analysis indicates that over the past quadrimester,
approximately 269 trillion rials (equivalent to about $468 million)
in credit facilities were disbursed for operational liquidity
within the housing and construction domain, concurrently with an
allocation of 310 trillion rials (roughly $540 million) earmarked
for infrastructural initiatives.
The analysis elucidates that in the specified timeframe, a
substantial allocation of 22.7 trillion rials (approximately $39.6
million) was disbursed in the form of loans for residential
acquisitions, while 14.2 trillion rials (around $24.7 million) were
earmarked for developmental initiatives, and an additional 1.53
trillion rials (close to $2.67 million) was directed towards
self-employment ventures associated with housing.
Furthermore, financial institutions disbursed 319 billion rials
(approximately $555,000) in credit facilities for the acquisition
of personal assets and allocated 292 billion rials (roughly
$508,000) for refurbishment projects.
In aggregate, banking entities and financial institutions disbursed
credit facilities totaling 17.7 quadrillion rials (approximately
$30.4 billion) across diverse sectors during the four-month
timeframe, reflecting a year-over-year escalation of 33.5 percent
relative to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal
year.
