BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 23. Iran’s imports from Russia in the first four months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 22, 2025) rose by 18.2 percent in value and 10.4 percent in weight compared to the same period last year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024).
Data obtained by Trend from the country's Customs Administration (IRICA) indicates that Iran imported $451 million worth of goods from Russia, totaling 896,000 tons during this period.
The statistics show that imports during the same period last year amounted to $381 million in value and 812,000 tons in weight.
Statistics indicate that Iran mainly imports petrochemical products, agricultural goods, glass containers, industrial products, and other items from Russia.
Meanwhile, non-oil trade with Russia reached roughly $878 million in value and 2 million tons in weight over the four months, representing a 22 percent increase in value and a 15.5 percent increase in volume year-on-year.
The IRICA data indicates that a total of 12.2 million tons of
goods, valued at $17.6 billion, were imported into Iran in the
initial four months of the current Iranian fiscal year. This
represents a contraction of 14.2 percent in monetary terms and a
decrease of 3.23 percent in physical weight relative to the
preceding year.
Iran strategically emphasizes the procurement of critical
commodities essential for national sustenance while instituting
specific regulatory frameworks governing the importation of
indigenous products.
