BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 17. Azerbaijan conducted international freight transportation via railway with a total value of $2 billion and a volume of 4.7 million tons from January through August 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that this marks a decline of $50.7 million, or 2.4 percent in value, and by 79,800 tons, or 1.7 percent in volume, compared to the same period in 2024.
Moreover, exports through railway transportation during this period amounted to $592.9 million in value and 1.8 million tons in volume, marking a decline of $12.3 million, or 2 percent, in value, and 32,500 tons, or 1.7 percent, in volume compared to last year.
Furthermore, Azerbaijan imported 2.8 million tons of cargo worth $1.4 billion via railway transportation in the first eight months of the year. This represents a decrease of $38.4 million, or 2.6 percent, in value, and 47,300 tons, or 1.6 percent, in volume compared to the same period in 2024.
