BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 27. A total of 1.2 million tons of goods worth about $695 million were exported through the Mehran customs office in the western Iranian Ilam Province during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through September 22, 2025), the Director General of the Ilam Province Customs Administration Sohrab Kamari told local media, Trend reports.
According to him, products were exported to Iraq and other countries through Mehran customs in the reporting period.
Kamari said that the export mainly included petrochemical, metal and agricultural products, power plant equipment, construction materials, and ceramics.
The customs official noted that 5.8 million people crossed through Mehran customs in the direction of Iraq and Iran in the six months, which is six percent more than in the same period last year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024).
Kamari added that Mehran customs is Iran's closest customs border point to the Iraqi capital Baghdad, and an average of about 400 trucks carry products through this customs daily.
To recall, in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), 3.22 million tons of products worth $1.81 billion were exported to Iraq and other countries through Mehran customs.
