BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 1. The volume of loaded cargo at stations under Iran’s Northern Railway Administration rose by 67 percent during the sixth month of the current Iranian year (from August 23 through September 22, 2025), compared to the same period last year (from August 22 through September 21, 2024), Rahmat Rahmatnejad, General Manager of the administration, told reporters, Trend reports.
Rahmatnejad noted that the stations handled around 90,000 tons of loaded cargo, up from 54,000 tons last year. He added that unloaded cargo at these stations reached around 193,000 tons, marking a 61 percent increase from 120,000 tons in the same period last year.
Currently, Iran’s railway network spans 14,984 kilometers and operates with 993 locomotives, 29,950 freight cars, and 2,178 passenger cars.
