In 2013, Turkey's revenues from the payment of a special tax on the consumption of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages amounted to 27 billion lire, the Radikal newspaper said on Tuesday.
According to the newspaper, tax revenues from the usage of tobacco products are expected to reach 21.3 billion lire and from alcohol - 5.9 billion lire.
In the first quarter of this year, tax revenue from alcohol consumption amounted to 1.1 billion lire against 948 million lire in the same period last year. In 2012, revenue from this source as a whole amounted to 4.6 billion lire.
Turkey's revenue from a tax on the consumption of tobacco products in the first quarter of 2013 amounted to 4.2 billion lire versus 3.1 billion lire during the same period of 2012. At the end of 2012, Turkey's revenues along this line amounted to 19.9 billion lire.
The share of tax revenue from consumption of alcohol and tobacco products in Turkey is 32.5 per cent of the total tax deductions for consumption.
