The Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan is preparing a project to reduce the time spent on filling out tax declarations, the head of the Main Directorate for Economic Analysis and State Registration of Business Entities of the Ministry of Taxes Natig Shirinov told journalists on Wednesday.
"We are now exploring the option whereby tax returns will be automatically pre-filled based on the data available on the ministry's databases and made available to taxpayers. If the taxpayer will agree with the information provided, the declaration will be immediately accepted and stored. If not, he will correct the data and submit it to the ministry," Shirinov said.
According to him, introduction of this system is included in the list of activities for this year.
"This is not an easy system. We are studying the experience of other countries. Once we determine what kind of experience we need, we will begin application of this system. We can apply it with regards to all kinds of taxes, but this is the most important in the case of VAT, as it is a complex form of tax and the filling of the VAT declaration takes a lot of time," Shirinov said.
