Azerbaijan to increase fruit and berry exports in 2014

Azerbaijan will continue to increase fruit and berry exports next year, the country's draft state budget for 2014 said.

According to the document, the government expects the decrease of import from 65,200 tons in 2012 to 60,000 tons in 2013 and 50,000 tons in 2014. In addition, the government expects the increase in fruit and berry exports to rise from 230,700 tons in 2012 to 235,000 tons in 2013 and 240,000 tons 2014.

The self-sufficiency level on this type of product amounted to 125.7 per cent in 2012. The expected figure for 2013 is 127.3 per cent and for 2014 it is estimated at 129.1 per cent.
According to the project, around 810,000 tons of fruit and berries were produced in the country in 2012, while the expectation for 2013 and 2014 are 815,100 tons and 843,700 tons respectively.

Fruit and berry consumption in the country amounted to 632,600 tons in 2012, while according to the government's prognosis, this figure will increase to 635,000 tons in 2013 and 637,400 tons in 2014.
