Next year Azerbaijan will continue to decrease imports and increase exports of meat and meat products, the draft state budget for 2014 said.
According to the document, the government predicts a decrease of imports from 42,000 tons to 19,000 tons in 2013 and 18,000 tons in 2014 and an increase in exports from 1900 tons to 2000 tons in 2013 and 2014.
In 2012, local production provided 87.7 per cent of the demand for meat and meat products in the country and the expected figure for 2013 is 94.7 per cent, and in 2014 is 95.4 per cent.
According to the project, in 2012 the country produced 285,600 tons of meat and meat products and in 2013 it is expected to produce 305,400 tons with 2014 an estimated 328,900 tons.
In 2012 meat consumption in the country amounted to 320,700 tons, in 2013 it is projected to rise to 325,000 tons and in 2014 up to 337,000 tons.
In 2012 Azerbaijan formed reserves of meat and meat products to the amount of 336,800 tons, in 2013 it will drop to 336,700 tons and in 2014 to 354,400 tons.
