The national airlines of Uzbekistan Uzbekiston Havo Yullari and the American Boeing Co. will put into operation the regional center for repair of large composite structural elements of aircrafts in Tashkent by the end of 2014, said a statement of the Uzbek airlines.
The report notes that the new center is being created on the basis of the Uzbekistan Airways Technics of Uzbek airlines.
The State Unitary Enterprise (SUE) Uzbekistan Airways Technics is the largest aircraft repair plant in Central Asia which was put into operation in 1994. The annual program of the center currently comprises of 36 C-Check forms and 215 A-check forms (linear service) for western aircrafts.
Uzbekistan Airways has directed for the development of the center about $ 20 million.
Equipment suppliers were German companies, Lufthansa Technic and Hudro-Geratebau GmbH.
The supply of technological equipment for the new center is provided by Boeing Corporation. Investments in the creation of the new center are not disclosed.
The statement says that installation of the center is scheduled for completion in September, commissioning works will continue until the end of November.
At the initial stage the center will master the repair of major components of the Boeing-757 and Boeing-767 aircrafts, and in 2016 will start operating on Boeing-787-800 Dreamliner.
As previously reported, Uzbekiston Havo Yullari signed contracts with Boeing in 2007-2008 for the purchase of four Boeing-767-300ER aircrafts and two Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner aircrafts totaling $ 645 million. The delivery of the aircraft Boeing-767-300ER to Uzbekistan was completed in July this year.
Delivery of the first Boeing-787-800 Dreamliner and the spare engine is expected in June 2016, and Uzbekiston Havo Yullari NAC will receive the second plane in August 2016.
Uzbek airline fleet currently consists of 31 aircraft of western production.
Uzbekiston Havo Yullari NAC is the monopoly carrier in Uzbekistan and is wholly owned by the state.
In 2013 the Uzbek airline increased the transportation of passengers by 1.5 percent, or up to 2.677 million passengers compared to 2012.
Aircraft airlines implement flights from Uzbekistan to 21 cities in Europe, America, Middle East, Asia, to 22 cities of CIS countries and on 11 destinations for local airlines.
