Turkey will start the mass production of the HURKUS first domestic trainer aircraft in 2018, Anadolu agency said Dec. 5 citing the Turkish Air Force.
Around 15 HURKUS aircraft will be produced at the first stage. First such aircraft was successfully tested on Aug. 29, 2013.
It was developed by the Turkish Research Center for Aerospace Technology (TUSAS). Around 50 engineers and over 350 professionals worked on the aircraft's design.
The center also produces parts for F-16 fighters, Airbus A380 and military Airbus A400M.
