Azerbaijan's ten major insurance companies made insurance payments totalling 12.15 million Azerbaijani manats in January 2016, said the Finance Ministry's State Insurance Supervision Service in a message March 4.
This figure accounts for over 90 percent of the payments made by all the insurance companies in the mentioned period.
There are a total of 25 insurance companies in Azerbaijan.
Pasha Insurance leads the ranking in terms of its insurance payments. The company paid 3.29 million manats, or 24.61 percent of the total amount.
Ateshgah Life ranked second in the same list with 2.51 million manats, or 18.75 percent of the total payments, being followed Pasha Life which paid 1.75 million manats (13.11 percent).
In January 2016, the insurance companies operating in Azerbaijan collected 76.3 million manats in insurance premiums, which is 21.3 percent more than in the same period of 2015.
Official manat rate to the US dollar on March 4 is 1.6019 AZN/$1.
