Azerbaijan should restore the currency exchange offices operating outside banks, Rufat Guliyev, Azerbaijani MP, a member of the country’s parliamentary committee on economic affairs, industry and entrepreneurship, told Trend.
“Once such administrative measures [a ban on currency exchange offices outside banks] are introduced, black markets emerge, traders appear immediately and try to make money on this,” he said.
Guliyev went on to add that it is necessary to create a wide network of currency exchange offices across the whole country, which will operate officially.
Earlier, Madat Guliyev, head of Azerbaijan’s State Security Service, said that investigation is underway regarding activity in currency black market in Azerbaijan and there are already several suspects.
