In 2017, Kazakhstan’s KazSat satellite system ensured 12 billion tenge ($37.5 million) worth import substitution of the country due to the reduction of the use of resources of foreign satellites and yielded more than 5 billion tenge ($15.6 million) to the state budget, the press-service of the Republican Center for Space Communications (RCSC) of Kazakhstan said in a message.
In total, the KazSat system provided import substitution worth 34 billion ($106 million) during the period of operation since 2011, due to a reduction in Kazakhstan’s use of foreign satellite resources and generated revenues worth 17 billion tenge ($53.1 million).
The press service also added that Kazakhstan plans to launch another satellite by the end of 2023, regarding the expiration of the term of the KazSat-2 satellite.
Republican Center for Space Communications of Kazakhstan was established in 2004 by a decree of the government.
